Neutra influence in Canberra
Richard Neutra
Richard Neutra, along with Frank Lloyd Wright, is one of the most famous architects of the twentieth century and helped to create the 20th century’s architectural style. Neutra was born in Vienna, Austria, in 1892 and was schooled and interned in Austria and Germany. In 1923 he ceased the opportunity to move to America. He worked very briefly with the still-young Lloyd Wright, but soon Neutra accepted an invitation from another prominent architect, Rudolph Schindler, to head out to California and live and work in the communal environment of Schindler’s Kings Road House.
Neutra’s devotion to strict geometric structures, punctuated by flights of fancy became synonymous with the med-century modern architecture of the West Coast. His style has been copied all over the world as can be seen for example at the Executive Country Retreat in Canberra, Australia.
Neutra was famous for paying particular attention to the practical requirements of his clients, whether the project was large or small. Neutra did not suffer from the diva-complex of many of his contemporaries and try to impose his architectural vision into projects. Neutra even took such lengths as asking his clients to fill out detailed questionnaires in order to be sure of their desires.
Neutra eventually returned to his roots and died in Wuppertal in Germany in 1970. His legacy still continues in many of the elegant and naturalistic modern buildings that he created. Some of his most famous properties include:

Our New Home
My husband and I are newly weds and we have been trying to decide where we want to settle down and raise our family. We have been looking online at AZ homes. I am thinking that I would like to go there in person and see a few of them. I like the warm weather. Therefore, I think this will be the best choice for the two of us. My husband is so skilled, he can find a job anywhere.
